Furniture
-
Protect against marks from furniture by using felt pads on any table or chair legs that will rest on the rug.
-
Rotating your rug every few months will help relieve areas from excess wear.
Rug Care
Give your rug a good shake and a quick vacuum when it arrives.
Vacuuming/Brushing
-
Regular vacuuming is crucial in caring for your rug. Vacuum thoroughly once a week. Do not engage beater bars. Rugs in homes with pets or placed in high traffic areas should be vacuumed more frequently.
-
Brushing is the best way to remove stubborn pet hairs. Use a purpose made carpet brush or carpet sweeper.
Spills
-
Use a clean cloth to gently press into the spill to absorb as much liquid as possible. Do not rub. Rubbing will set the stain in deeper.
-
For light stains, sponge clean the area with cold water and a mild detergent.
-
For heavy staining, professional rug cleaning is recommended.
Humidity/Water
-
Prolonged exposure to high levels of humidity can be harmful to the rug. Avoid placing in the bathroom, and immediately blot dry any water spillage.
Sunlight
-
Prolonged contact with direct sunlight will cause the colour of your rug to fade with time.
Shedding
-
New wool rugs may shed, more so in the first few weeks. Vacuum your rug 1-2 times a week for the first few weeks to minimise shedding.
